Kumandra. That’s the internal message in the new Disney original, Raya and The Last Dragon.

Raya and The Last Dragon is a story of a teenage girl named Raya,(Kelly Marie Tran) who has to take a journey to reunite the four communities, Spine, Heart, Tail, and Talon, to be Kumandra again. Raya is the daughter of Cheif Benja of the Heart kingdom.

Raya and The Last Dragon is a comedy/adventure animated film with lots of fun twists, it shows the meaningfulness of family. This movie is bound to make you feel several different emotions, to me, it’s a must-watch.

Raya is an 18-year old girl whose father is turned to stone when she was 10 because she trusted someone she should not have trusted with something priceless. Raya goes on a long-enduring journey with the last dragon, Sisu, (Awkwafina). Raya has to fix her mistake and bring back Kumandra. Raya goes on a long-enduring journey with the last dragon, Sisu, (Awkwafina) and they find companions from the three other kingdoms. How did this all happen you might ask? Well, it all started before Raya was even born, when the four kingdoms were Kumandra. Something happened and the Druun were awakened, a terrible plague that turns everything living into stone. The four main dragons, Pengu, Jagan, Amba, and Pranee, Sisu’s siblings combined their magic to create the Dragon Gem. Sisu used the Dragon Gem to blast the Druun away. They ended up turning into stone, but Sisu lived and went into hiding.

This fantasy film will have you at the edge of your seat, anticipating their next move. Now, take a second and think about what YOU think Kumandra means, and don’t be scared to share in the comments!
