Coach Lawsuit!

Brian Flores (former Miami Dolphins coach) issued a lawsuit to the NFL on racist allegations. This story is insane so I’m just going to give my best possible summary of it. So Flores is filing a class action lawsuit against all 32 NFL teams but specifically against the Denver Broncos, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and The New England Patriots. 

His main explanation for filing this lawsuit is that those NFL teams are hiring coaches who are Caucasian and underqualified compared to coaches who are colored and are way more qualified. He also stated that when he was coaching under the Miami Dolphins they told him they were going to pay him 100 thousand dollars every time they lost. He did not do that for the next 2 years and he was fired randomly after two winning seasons. 

So far Flores has stated, “Other people will join me in this.” Lamar Jackson publicly said on Twitter that he will stand by Flores and stand by him through the whole lawsuit. So far he is pretty much the only one who has joined him in his cause. 

John Elway has denied the allegations against him and his team. The Dolphins executive has also denied the allegations so far. The Giants have denied the allegations and Bill Belichick has said that he had inside information that the Giants were not going to hire him. 

Overall, this issue is just beginning and over the next three months this case will really start to develop and gain ground. I feel like this case is the beginning of a new era for black coaches in the NFL. I think this issue will uncover a lot of the extremely bad and dark things that have developed in the NFL over the past few years. I think it’s horrible how the NFL treats their players and coaches and I think that is going to be the biggest thing to launch out of this case.
